St. Mark's UMC Preschool

September 28, 2010

Fall is Here !

Although the temperature doesn't reflect the season, at St. Mark's preschool we are well into Fall. Your children are adjusting to their new teachers, classmates and schedules and it has been a joy to watch them. September has been all about apples. We have many exciting projects with apples so make sure to ask your child what they have been doing in class.  We have also been talking about Respect. The children have also started their music classes with Ms. Patsy and the 3's and 4's have also started Spanish with Senora Gerald. Be sure to check out their newsletters outside your child's classroom.  Again, thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.

Blessings,

Wendy

Development Note:

Why do we have a block Center?

As a child builds with blocks, he/she is developing control of the small muscles of fingers and hands as blocks are added to a structure. Perceptions of size, weight, and shape are developing and language skills are growing as children discuss what they are building. Cooperation and planning among children develops as they work together toward a common goal.

Speech Screenings

Iglio Speech Services (ISS) will be offering FREE speech-language screenings at St. Mark's preschool during the month of October as an outreach effort to decrease developmental delay. The screenings will be provided by Jennifer Iglio, licensed speech-language pathologist. The purpose of these screenings is to determine IF further evaluation of your child's communication skills is necessary. If you would like  your child to undergo a screening, sign and return the consent form that will be sent home with your child NO LATER THAN Friday Oct. 8th. If you do not return this consent form, your child will not be screened. If you have any questions look for the Speech display in the preschool Lobby in October or stop by the office.

Rules of the Road

Thank you parents for being so patient as a new year of carpooling begins. Every year there is an adjustment period as we get used to the carpooling process. We need your help in this process. If you are walking your child in, please do not walk through the carpool line. Please park in the parking lot and follow the sidewalk in. Alot of families drive large vehicles and it is not always easy to see little ones. We also ask that you not be on our cell phones while in the carpool line. Also, just a reminder, carpool ends at 9:20. If you arrive after 9:20 please drive around to the preschool office and walk your child in. All other doors will be locked at 9:20.

Reminders:

Tuition is due by the 1st of the Month. Tuition received after the 10th of the month will be subject to a $20.00 late fee.
